Yorkshire 2020 IT Recruitment Salary Guide

November has been quite a surprise. Despite a nationwide lockdown, IT recruitment activity continued to power through laying waste to the widely believed predictions of a slowdown. Many thought that we’d experience a similar lull to that of March/April however, it would seem that many businesses have adapted to life in one way or another and have continued to progress. Not a single client of ours closed or even delayed a recruitment process throughout November which says a lot about the positively bullish attitudes of business leaders in today’s challenging climate. Of course, there are sectors in great pain, however, for those finding their feet or even profiting from the opportunities covid has brought, we continue to see strategic IT recruitment remain high on the agenda.

Regarding IT recruitment salary and contract rates, November saw a relatively stable period with little movement, save for some market corrections following inflated stats caused by the odd uniquely disproportionate job. Classic talent short areas such as Software Development still continue to make life difficult for Hiring Managers however, Analysts and Project Managers are fast becoming the most competitive areas for securing talent.

We anticipate a busy December as we help clients meet their remaining 2020 objectives and prepare for 2021

If your company is thinking of hiring, do it now. As demand rises, so too with the rates of pay and the difficulty levels of attracting and securing the right talent.

If, however, your company is slowing down – beware! If your IT staff start to feel insecure, talent competitors and recruiters will find it very easy to persuade your staff to interview elsewhere. Despite the stress and negativity that may exist, take the time to focus on reassuring your team and, where appropriate, reward their loyalty. It’s a false economy to avoid salary increases for your best people. Doing so risks leave yourself vulnerable to losing key staff and the larger costs in both time and money of replacing them.
